Fatih Altaylı speaks out on his 'arrest'! AKP figures tipped him off... 'They wanted to silence me'
Speaking out following his arrest, Fatih Altaylı said that while he was abroad, some of his friends within the AKP sent him messages saying, "You will be arrested, do not return to Turkey." Altaylı stated, "They wanted to silence me during this critical period. They think I am giving advice to the opposition, but I offer recommendations not just to the opposition, but to the government as well."

Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who is currently detained in Silivri, answered questions from Ruşen Çakır of Medyascope. Altaylı stated that he was in Spain one week before his arrest and that some of his friends from the AKP reached out to him, saying:
"Before coming to the courthouse, I also expected nothing more than judicial control. But when I saw the atmosphere at the courthouse, I understood. Actually, I was expecting it. I was in Spain a week ago. Some friends I know from the AKP called and sent word, saying 'Don't come, they will arrest you.' When I heard this, I got angry and came back."

Regarding the fact that his broadcast on his own YouTube channel, which showed an empty chair following his arrest, received approximately 1.5 million views, Altaylı said, "I suppose they are afraid of my influence. They wanted to silence me during this critical period. They think I am giving advice to the opposition, but they don't realize that I offer recommendations not just to the opposition, but to them as well."
Fatih Altaylı also stated that he would take legal action against the RTÜK's demand for his YouTube channel to obtain a license within 72 hours following his arrest, adding, "RTÜK is demanding something from me that it doesn't demand from 1 million other YouTube broadcasters. It is AKP-style justice perfectly suited to this period. Our lawyers are reviewing it. We will fulfill every legal requirement. I will take any unlawful demands to the judiciary."

Altaylı gave the following response regarding the assessment made about him by the individual known to the public as Cübbeli Ahmet, whom he had hosted on HaberTürk several times:
"I didn't hear it, but people told me. The last time Cübbeli called me, he wanted me to mediate for a watch for his daughter. It was a diamond-encrusted model from the most famous and expensive Swiss brand. The market price is a quarter of a million dollars. I suppose he is angry because he couldn't get the watch. If his breath is as powerful as he claims, he should first heal himself. He is going from hospital to hospital in fear of death. I guess his curses work, but his prayers go unanswered."
