Journalist Fatih Altaylı, in a statement on his personal YouTube channel regarding the missing child Narin case in Diyarbakır, mentioned that nearly 100,000 children have gone missing in Turkey over 8 years, a figure he stated he "determined based on open sources."
'OFFICIAL DATA SOURCED FROM TURKSTAT IS ON RECORD'
The Center for Combating Disinformation announced in a post that Altaylı's claim was incorrect. Addressing the issue in his column today, Altaylı said, "You are the liars, and you are the ones spreading disinformation. You have made lying your profession, and you call others liars."
"Returning to Turkey, I am not the one who revealed the fact that an average of 32 children go missing per day, around 10 thousand per year, based on TURKSTAT data; it was Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Gülizar Biçer," said Altaylı, who included the following statements in his article:
"It was not long ago, under the roof of the TBMM. And the shameful institution called the Center for Combating Disinformation, which did not say a single word about this statement, does not deny Gülizar Biçer. This official information, published under the roof of the TBMM and sourced from TURKSTAT, is on record. I am the liar for conveying this official information, is that it! There are no lies in me, brother. You are the liars. You are the king of liars. Moreover, you have no shame."
