Fatih Altaylı's take on Hafize Gaye Erkan: 'We know it full well...'

Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan and her father Erol Erkan have become the center of attention due to allegations made against them.

A Central Bank employee named Büşra Bozkurt, who claimed she was fired by Erol Erkan, also alleged that Erkan slapped a bank employee. It has been claimed that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is also uncomfortable with the allegations surrounding the Central Bank and that Hafize Gaye Erkan will be dismissed before the local elections.

On the other hand, it was also suggested that Hafize Gaye Erkan would not attend the Central Bank Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, where the first interest rate decision of the year is set to be announced.

"WE KNOW FULL WELL THAT HE WAS LURKING AROUND"

Journalist Fatih Altaylı commented on the events involving Gaye Erkan and the Central Bank on his YouTube channel.

"Someone within the government wants to get rid of Gaye Erkan. However, the fact that someone wants to get rid of Gaye Erkan does not clear the things Gaye Erkan's father has done," said Fatih Altaylı, adding, "We know full well that Gaye Erkan's father was going to the Central Bank's headquarters in Ankara and Istanbul, but mostly in Istanbul, and was lurking around there. This was an allegation at first, and this allegation has been talked about for months already."

"THEY ARE INFORMING UĞUR DÜNDAR ABOUT PROTECTING THE FAMILY"

"I always hoped that a woman who studied at the best schools in Turkey and worked as a General Manager at a bank in America, and the family that raised this woman, would not engage in such old-fashioned behavior, and I shared this here as well," continued Fatih Altaylı, who made the following striking statement regarding the WhatsApp conversations shared by Journalist Uğur Dündar:

"After Uğur Dündar's post, I understood that it happened and it is true. You know I like Uğur Abi. This is the second time Uğur Abi has shielded himself against criticisms of Gaye Erkan. Either there is access from the family or access from somewhere else. In other words, someone is informing Uğur Dündar about protecting the family and putting him forward. Uğur Dündar is doing this with great good intentions."

Continuing his assessment, Altaylı stated that they understood from Uğur Dündar's post that Erkan's mother and father were frequently going to the bank because they were helping to breastfeed their grandchild, and said, "If Gaye Erkan were in America, would her mother and father go to the bank every day to help her with the child, would they do such a thing? There is an important institution like the Central Bank. Let's say your mother went to this institution. But what does the father have to do with it? Even if you are taking your mother, you take her and leave her, and go pick her up 2 hours later. If you absolutely have to take her. So, there is already a strange situation here."

Altaylı continued his words as follows:

"Again, we learn from Uğur Dündar that one of the bank employees sends a WhatsApp message to Hafize Gaye Erkan's mother. And says, 'Some conspiracies will be plotted against Hafize Hanım, be aware.' Now, isn't this also very strange? What is Hafize Gaye Erkan's mother's phone number doing with a bank employee! There is a massive, old-fashioned situation here. If a bank employee thinks a conspiracy will be plotted against Hafize Gaye Erkan, they report it directly to Hafize Gaye Erkan. Why are they reporting it to her mother? This also shows: It means the mother is also wandering around inside the bank, having conversations with this person and that person. She has given her phone number to various places and so on."

"I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF THEY ORGANIZE A CAMPAIGN AGAINST MEHMET ŞİMŞEK TOO"

Stating that Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek is not bothered by the events, Fatih Altaylı said, "Because Mehmet Şimşek and Erkan have a relationship that goes back a long way. Erkan is also more experienced than Mehmet Şimşek in terms of experience. She is a higher-level banker. He says, 'I can't get along, resign.' The President calls and says, 'request your pardon,' and she leaves. There is no need for such a smear campaign. I think this is something done despite Mehmet Şimşek. I wouldn't be surprised if those running this campaign organize another one against Mehmet Şimşek tomorrow or the day after," he said.
