YRP leader Fatih Erbakan has made a striking claim, stating that he has received 'rumors' regarding Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar, who recently resigned from his party.

Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) Chairman Fatih Erbakan was a guest on the Rota program broadcast on Halk TV.
Making statements regarding the current agenda, Erbakan brought up a highly discussed claim concerning Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar, who resigned from his party in recent days.
"HE HAS THOUGHTS ABOUT AN AMBASSADORSHIP OR A MINISTRY"
"We do not see this as a balanced stance. I see it as an inconsistent approach and an unbalanced attitude. It is not logical for such a transformation to occur in 3 or 4 months," said Erbakan, adding the following:
"We are hearing rumors that he has thoughts about an ambassadorship or a ministry. I do not know the full accuracy of this. If that happens, he would have to leave the Mayoralty to become an Ambassador or a Minister. This would not be positive for him. The people of Urfa elected him to serve them. They voted for him; there are concerns about how it would be received if you leave that to become an ambassador to another country or a minister. What he said at the meeting held with municipal council members is also clear: 'I had a poll conducted, 69 percent said do not leave your party, but I am going to leave.' It wasn't just Yeniden Refah members who voted for him; CHP voters also voted for him, and IYI Party voters also voted for him. The entire public of Urfa, overwhelmed by the AKP, united behind Mr. Kasım. This is a great responsibility, of course. They gave these votes because he would provide a great change. Now, for him to go there within 5-6 months is not consistent."
