Fatih Erbakan puts an end to the 'arrest' debate: "Erdoğan did not have control"

Erbakan and the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Suat Kılıç met with citizens at the Dikmen Sokullu Neighborhood Market.

Erbakan and Kılıç, along with accompanying party members, listened to the problems of market tradesmen and citizens, and posed for souvenir photos.

Stating that the party organization is working for the local elections in different regions of Turkey, Erbakan noted that citizens are complaining about economic conditions.

"PRIME MINISTER ERDOĞAN AND THE AKP DID NOT HAVE CONTROL OVER INSTITUTIONS AND THE STATE"

Regarding the attempt by police to detain Necmettin Erbakan after the February 28 process, Fatih Erbakan said, "At that time, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the AK Party government did not have the same level of control over institutions and the state as they do today.

There are many events that took place during that period. In particular, FETÖ had a very serious level of control at that time.

We believe that the difficulties experienced there were due to the attitude of FETÖ elements within the lower levels of the bureaucracy and the police, not at the prime ministerial level.

Otherwise, we do not believe that the President, as Prime Minister at the time, would have had such an attitude toward the late Erbakan Hodja.

Let us express this on this occasion as well. Unfortunately, this is an unjust case that is a product of February 28. Therefore, after the conviction decision and the upholding of that conviction, certain steps were taken regarding the arrest of our late Erbakan Hodja and the execution of this sentence.

Afterwards, as you know, this was converted into house arrest, and thus that situation did not manifest. May God never let our country and our nation experience such periods again, or such unjust and unfair practices that are contrary to democracy, law, and human rights," he said.

Regarding the fact that Akçakale Mayor Mehmet Yalçınkaya of Şanlıurfa became the Akçakale candidate for the New Welfare Party after resigning from the AK Party, Erbakan said, "This is something that happens in politics.

It is quite natural for us, as the New Welfare Party, to want influential, strong, and high-potential people in that region to be our candidates. As you know, an IYI Party deputy also resigned from the IYI Party and became the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate for the People's Alliance and the AK Party.

These are things that happen in politics. Therefore, we are in a struggle to get the highest number of votes and, by getting these votes, to be a remedy for our nation's problems and to serve in the municipalities. This is all I can say about this," he stated.
