Investigation launched into Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı, TV8, and Exxen over 'betting'

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into Acun Ilıcalı, TV8, and Exxen digital platform officials for the crime of advertising and encouraging illegal betting.

Most recently, Fenerbahçe Sports Club issued a written statement regarding the legal process initiated over allegations that Galatasaray had entered into a sponsorship agreement involving an illegal betting company, criticizing the "Decision of Non-Prosecution" issued by the prosecutor's office and stating that they would follow the legal appeal process.

WHAT HAPPENED?

TV8 owner and Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı had made a statement on social media regarding the advertising boards at the Montenegro vs. Turkey match, noting the following:

"For those who insist on not understanding, those who do not want to understand, or those who want to create a perception, let us say it once more. The sale of advertising boards for matches played abroad belongs to the host country's federation.

Just as the sale of advertising boards for national matches played in Turkey belongs to the Turkish Football Federation, the Montenegro Football Federation handled the sale of the pitch-side advertising boards for the Montenegro-Turkey match.

TV8 has no interest in or connection to any party involved in this event."
