Fidan, meeting with Blinken: "The dire situation in Gaza requires us to address this issue urgently"

Foreign Minister Fidan and his accompanying delegation met with his US counterpart Antony Blinken in Washington within the framework of the Strategic Mechanism Meeting.

Fidan stated that they were holding the seventh of the strategic meetings that began in 2021 and that, in this context, they would hold discussions on a wide range of topics between the two countries, including security, regional cooperation, regional issues, trade, and energy.

"COULD NOT STOP THE SUFFERING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE"

Noting that many important regional developments, primarily the Israeli massacres in Gaza, are occurring simultaneously, Fidan said, "The dire situation in Gaza requires us to address this issue urgently. The international community has not been able to stop the suffering of innocent people. The people in Gaza are in need of urgent humanitarian aid."

Minister Fidan also underscored that they need to work seriously with the US and other countries to ensure a ceasefire and provide uninterrupted humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Stating that many regional issues such as Ukraine and Black Sea security would also be on the agenda during the meeting, Fidan expressed that the current state of NATO following Sweden's membership would also be discussed.
