Fidan speaks with Blinken: Sweden's NATO membership and F-16 sale on the agenda

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken covered the following topics: Sweden's NATO membership, the US sale of F-16s to Turkey, the Israel-Hamas war, the latest developments in Gaza, and the Cyprus issue.

Minister Fidan stated that the process regarding Sweden's NATO membership is being followed by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Furthermore, regarding the F-16 sale, he expressed his expectation that the US fulfill its commitments and act in accordance with the spirit of the alliance. The situation in Gaza was also discussed, with an emphasis on the necessity of declaring a ceasefire as soon as possible and beginning negotiations for a lasting peace.

The Cyprus issue was another topic on the agenda of the meeting.
