Aircraft from the General Directorate of Forestry (OGM) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry carried out 2,134 sorties and dropped 7,662 tons of water on the flames due to forest fires that broke out across the country on August 15-16.

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced that it is providing support to the ongoing forest fire extinguishing efforts in İzmir, Manisa, Aydın, and Bolu with 13 helicopters.
In a statement from the Ministry, it was noted that efforts to bring the ongoing forest fires in İzmir, Manisa, Aydın, and Bolu under control are continuing with great effort in coordination with the relevant state institutions and organizations.
The statement included the following: "We are supporting the forest fire extinguishing efforts with 13 helicopters in total: 6 helicopters belonging to our Turkish Armed Forces in the Yamanlar area of İzmir's Karşıyaka district, 2 helicopters in Manisa's Gördes district, 2 helicopters in Bolu's Göynük district, and 3 helicopters in Aydın's Bozdoğan district."
2,134 SORTIES, 7,662 TONS OF WATER
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications also reported that 2,134 sorties were carried out by aircraft in 583 hours of flight time within 2 days during the forest fires that broke out in Bolu, Aydın, İzmir, Manisa, and Muğla, and that 7,662 tons of water were dropped.
In a statement made on the Directorate of Communications' social media account, it was stated that aerial and ground intervention in the forest fires in İzmir, Aydın, Muğla, Manisa, and Bolu is continuing.
The statement used the following expression: "In the forest fires that occurred in the provinces of Bolu, Aydın, İzmir, Manisa, and Muğla, 2,134 sorties were carried out by aircraft in 583 hours of flight time within 2 days, and 7,662 tons of water were dropped."
It was noted that in addition to the forestry organization, municipal, police, AFAD, and gendarmerie personnel are also supporting the fire extinguishing efforts with their vehicles.
