A fine has been imposed on Cem Küçük, an employee of TGRT Haber and Türkiye Gazetesi. The reason for the penalty given to Küçük was cited as his insults directed at Oktay Yaşar, who uses the social media account known as Ankara Kuşu.
According to a report in Birgün, it has emerged that Cem Küçük, who works for TGRT Haber and Türkiye Gazetesi—known to be owned by the Işıkçılar Community—has been sentenced for the crime of insult.
Cem Küçük referred to Oktay Yaşar, the user of the social media account Ankara Kuşu, as "immoral and dishonest." Following Yaşar's complaint, a lawsuit was filed against Cem Küçük at the Gebze 13th Criminal Court of First Instance.
In the prosecutor's opinion, it was stated: "It is understood from the entire scope of the file that Cem Küçük committed the attributed crime by insulting the complainant through comments containing the words 'immoral and dishonest.' It is requested and opined on behalf of the public that Küçük be sentenced for the crime of 'public insult via audio, written, or visual communication'."
On December 24, 2024, the court decided that Küçük should be "sentenced to a judicial fine of 1,740 TL and the collection of 30,000 TL in attorney fees."
Furthermore, the court decision stated that if Küçük fails to pay the judicial fine, the sentence "could be converted into imprisonment."
