Fire on Istanbul-Mudanya voyage: Statement from BUDO

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality issued a statement on its social media account regarding the fire that broke out on a BUDO sea bus traveling from Istanbul to Bursa.
The statement included the following: "A small-scale fire occurred in the engine room of our sea bus named Yıldırım Beyazıt, belonging to Bursa Sea Buses (BUDO), which was performing the Eminönü-Mudanya voyage, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at approximately 19.50, as a result of a technical strain in one of the ship's engines. The fire was immediately intervened by our ship's crew and brought under control. Following the incident, the ship was safely docked at the Mudanya Pier using only one engine, despite adverse weather conditions with wave heights reaching 3 meters. All our passengers were evacuated safely. A detailed technical investigation into this incident has been launched, and all necessary measures will continue to be implemented decisively to ensure the highest level of safety in maritime transport. We wish all our passengers a speedy recovery."
