The fire broke out for an as-yet-unknown reason in a brushwood area near 1687 Street in the Yeşilova neighborhood of the Muratpaşa district. Upon notification, numerous fire crews and police were dispatched to the area. As the fire grew suddenly with the wind, smoke was visible from kilometers away, and the flames threatened some nearby homes and businesses. Police teams closed the street passing by the fire site to traffic, while fire crews began to intervene in the flames.

THEY DID NOT TAKE A STEP BACK

Hearts were in mouths as the flames, fueled by strong winds, headed toward an area containing homes, businesses, and beehives. Firefighters stepped between the fire and the residential area, forming a barrier. The firefighters, who did not take a single step back in the face of the flames that reached right up to them, extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading.

Salih Gönceoğlu, who was trying to protect his beehives and home, claimed that fires had broken out in the area before and that the fires were started by substance abusers coming to the wooded area.

While the fire was extinguished after about 1 hour of work, cooling efforts by the teams in the area are continuing.
