Fire panic on BUDO! 5 people hospitalized
A fire broke out in the engine room of a BUDO sea bus traveling from Istanbul to Bursa. During the incident, which occurred as the vessel was docking at the Mudanya port, 5 people, including 1 crew member, were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. While passengers experienced great panic, the flames were brought under control by the intervention of emergency teams.

A fire broke out in the engine room of a BUDO sea bus that departed from Istanbul Eminönü at 17:00 for Bursa Mudanya, at 20:08 as it was docking at the Mudanya port. Upon notification, 6 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. The teams intervened in the ship, which docked at the port shortly after. While the fire was brought under control in a short time, citizens were evacuated by the fire department teams. 1 ship crew member and 4 citizens affected by the smoke were taken to the hospital.
A citizen traveling on the ship said, "Smoke suddenly rose from inside. It happened just as we were docking. We all panicked and notified the teams. They arrived at the scene; we heard that some citizens were affected by the smoke."
Another citizen stated, "Around 18:00, an announcement was made that there would be a delay until 19:50. At 19:00, the swaying began. They made an announcement because there was a malfunction. Smoke filled the interior; oxygen came in after they opened the door. They gave me a knife for the life jackets. I was on the lower deck; I went to the front and threw the life jackets forward. The ship was rocking a lot due to the storm. We slowly docked at the port; the officials said there was a malfunction in the engine."
