First 2 articles of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Traffic Law accepted: Here are the new penalties
The first 2 articles of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Highway Traffic Law, which includes regulations for increasing traffic fines, have been accepted in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly.

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assemblyconvened to discussthe itemson itsagenda under the chairmanship ofDeputy Speaker Tekin Bingölto beginconvened under the chairmanship. Bingöl gave the floor to 3 deputies for off-agenda speeches beforemoving to the agenda.
Taking the floor, AKP Osmaniye Deputy Seydi Gülsoy spoke about the 104thanniversary of Osmaniye's liberationfrom enemyoccupation.stated that he experienced the rightfulpride of realizing the importanceof the situation. Group Deputy Chairsmade evaluations regarding theagenda duringthe speeches outside the agenda. In the General Assembly, the New Road Party's 'pension calculationmethod', and the IYI Party's 'R&D activities carried out at universities', the DEM Party's 'tax system', and the CHP's 'public employees and retirees' group proposals werediscussedseparately. Following the discussions, the group proposals of the New Way Party, IYI Party, DEM Party, and CHP were put to a vote. proposals were not accepted.
FIRST 2 ARTICLES ACCEPTED
According to the articles accepted in the General Assembly; traffic police officerson duty in units responsible for highways, limited to their area of responsibility,will be authorized to carry out internalinspections.subject to the approval of the Minister of Interior,they may also be assigned as general lawenforcement officers. In places where traffic lawenforcement is absent or insufficient, depending on the area ofresponsibility, general lawenforcement officers shall, in accordance with the principles and procedures specified in the relevant legislation,regulate traffic andaddress traffic offenses.will be authorized and tasked with seizingthe vehicle.
Additionally,there will be a mandatory requirement to registervehicles that can be registered electronicallywithin 3 business daysfrom the date of sale.VehiclesIn the event of the death of vehicle owners, the heirswill be required to provide the necessary information and documents within 90 daysfrom the date of death to the relevant registration authorityto applyand obtain a registration certificate in theirnames. For registration procedures within this scope, the registration will be processed as of the date of death. These vehicleswillbeat the end of the period, if it is determined that the vehiclehas been taken onto the highway without being registered in the name of the heirs, a3,000 lira administrative fine will be imposed on thedriver, and the vehicle will beprohibited from trafficuntil it is registeredin the name of the heirs.will be banned from traffic.
In the assembly, before moving on to the votingof the 3rd articleof the proposal,due to the lack of a quorum in both roll calls held, TBMM Deputy SpeakerTekin Bingöladjourned the session.to reconvene today at 14:00 adjourned.
HERE ARE THE NEWPENALTIES AWAITINGDRIVERS
According to the Draft Law on Amendments to the Highway Traffic Law,registration plateDrivers who alter their license plates in a way that causes them to be read differently or to be unreadablewill be subject to an administrative fine of 140 thousand lirasand will bepenalized, and the vehiclewill be banned from traffic for 30 days.
For vehicles used in cargotransportation with a maximum weightFor motor vehicles with a laden weightexceeding 3,500 kilograms, as well as those used in passenger transport activities andmotor vehicles with more than 17 seats including the driver,it will be mandatory to have and use a tachograph, and for automobiles providing taxi services, a taximeter.
Within residential areas,those who exceed the speed limit by 46-55 km/h will have their driver's licenses suspended for 30 days each time,those who exceed it by 56-65 km/h for 60 days each time, and those who exceed it by more than 66 km/h for 90 days each time,with their driver's licenses being revoked.will be taken.
Rightof wayviolations for vehicles with right-of-waynot yielding to driversDrivers will be issued an administrative fine of 15,000lira.
Ambulance vehicles,vehicles carrying injured or emergency patients, as well as fire trucks and forest firefighting vehicles,and drivers who do not make way forthese vehicles and do not stop when necessary will be subject to an administrative fine of 46,000 lira.will be given and driver's licenses will be revoked for 30 days.
180 THOUSAND LIRA FINE FOR AGGRESSIVE DRIVERS
Drivers who persistently follow another vehicle in traffic for the purpose of aggression or who get out of their vehicle for this purpose will be subject to an administrative fine of 180 thousand liraswill be applied, driver's licenses will be suspended for 60 days, and vehicles may be banned from traffic for 30 days.
If the modification disturbs those in the vicinity to a degree of nIn the event that the vehicleis of a nature to cause noise,an administrative fine of 16 thousand liras will be imposed on thedriver operating the vehicle.The driver's licenses of
drivers who cause a traffic accident by violating a red lightwill be suspended for 60 days.will be taken. Revoked driver's licenses will be returned at the end of the revocation period, provided that the driver undergoes a psychotechnical assessment and it isdetermined that there is no obstacle to them obtaining a driver's license.The license will be returned on the condition that it is understood there is no impediment to holding one.
Using a mobile phone while driving andDrivers who use mobile phonesand similar communication deviceswill be issued an administrative fine of 5 thousand liras.This penalty will be imposed.
Drivers of motor vehiclesengaging in racing will be subject to an administrative fine of 46 thousand liras,and their driver's licenseswill be suspended for 2 years.will be revoked for acertain period.In traffic accidents
resulting in death or injury,drivers who leave the scene of the accident without police permission, except in cases of necessity,will be sentenced to1 to 3 years in prison.
