While trustees were appointed to replace the mayors, protest demonstrations were held in the city. A detention warrant was issued for Tunceli Municipality Co-Mayor Birsen Orhan due to statements she made during the protests.
Following the removal of Tunceli Mayor Cevdet Konak, a member of the DEM Party, from office due to 'terror links,' a new development has occurred regarding Co-Mayor Birsen Orhan, also of the DEM Party, who had gone to the municipal building and referred to the trustee as a 'colonial governor.'
A detention warrant has been issued for Birsen Orhan.
SHE HAD REACTED TO THE TRUSTEE
Birsen Orhan had called on everyone to 'struggle' and invited the people of Tunceli to the streets, stating, "Just as they occupied Dersim in 1938, they are occupying our municipality again today." Following a meeting held by Orhan's lawyers, it was reported that she would go to provide a statement tomorrow morning and that the legal process would continue thereafter.
