First he robbed him, then he stabbed him 5 times

In Istanbul's Sarıyer district, taxi driver Yaşar Yanıkyürek was stabbed and thrown to the side of the road after his vehicle was carjacked. While the body of Yanıkyürek, who lost his life at the scene, was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute, police teams apprehended the murder suspect who stabbed and killed Yanıkyürek in a short time.

The incident occurred around 16:30 in Tarabya Neighborhood, Pamuk Street.

According to allegations, the lifeless body of a person who was killed after being stabbed five times was thrown onto the road from a moving car. Upon reports from citizens, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

TAXI DRIVER KILLED

Examinations by medical teams determined that taxi driver Yaşar Yanıkyürek, who was robbed and stabbed 5 times, had lost his life.

Following investigations by the Crime Scene Investigation teams, Yanıkyürek's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute.

APPREHENDED IN A SHORT TIME

Following the incident, teams from the Public Security Branch Directorate's Murder Bureau and the Sarıyer District Police Department took action.

After brief efforts, the murder suspect was apprehended 500 meters away from the scene along with the commercial taxi he had carjacked.

The apprehended robber was taken to the Public Security Branch Directorate for questioning.

The suspect identified as Y.B.G., who was determined to have carried out the attack that took place on 17.04.2024 around 18:00 in Sarıyer District, Tarabya Neighborhood, in which taxi driver Yaşar Yanıkyürek lost his life, has been apprehended by our police teams. The suspect's legal proceedings at the police station are ongoing.

REACTION FROM COLLEAGUES TO THE MURDER OF TAXI DRIVER YANIKYÜREK

A group of colleagues protested the murder of taxi driver Yaşar Yanıkyürek in Kadıköy. A group of colleagues of the murdered Yaşar Yanıkyürek gathered at the Göztepe Bridge.

Making a statement on behalf of the group, Osman Balıkçı stated that a person who got into the taxi in Ataşehir stabbed and murdered their colleague Yanıkyürek on the Sarıyer side, and that they gathered as the taxi community to protest after receiving the sad news.

Balıkçı, expressing that they have been working at night for years, said, "All of our friends here work until the morning to take bread money home, and we have no security. Today, we saw that we lost one of our brothers so easily, and in broad daylight at that.

Our brother Yaşar has passed away, but it seems this will be neither the first nor the last.

We are calling out to the authorities from here; today we lost another brother. We are now expecting the authorities to take action so that these things do not happen again."

Balıkçı and those accompanying him then moved from Göztepe Bridge towards the 15 July Martyrs Bridge in their commercial vehicles to make their voices heard.
