First hearing date set for cable car accident
The date for the first hearing has been set for the cable car accident that occurred in Antalya on April 12, which resulted in 1 death, 7 injuries, and left 184 people stranded.

Kepez Mayor Mesut Kocagöz, who is being held at the Döşemealtı L-Type Prison, and 4 other defendants will appear before the judge on June 11.
On April 12, an accident occurred on the Sarısu Cable Car Line, operated by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality subsidiary ANET, when the connection point of pylon number 5 snapped, resulting in 1 death, 7 injuries, and leaving 184 people stranded.
Following the accident, 5 people, including Mesut Kocagöz, the former General Manager of ANET who was elected Mayor of Kepez from the Republican People's Party (CHP), were arrested and sent to prison.
UP TO 27 YEARS IN PRISON SOUGHT
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the 36-page indictment prepared by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was submitted to the 6th High Criminal Court.
While the prepared indictment was accepted by the court, the date for the first hearing where Kocagöz and the other defendants will appear before the judge was also announced.
The defendants, who will appear before the judge at the Antalya 6th High Criminal Court on Tuesday, June 11, face up to 27 years in prison each for the charges of "causing death and injury by negligence" and "endangering traffic safety by negligence."
