A first in Bursa in 10 years: No thefts reported in the last 24 hours

Bursa Police Department teams have increased their enforcement and operations in recent years to ensure the peace and security of citizens.

Operations targeting wanted individuals and peace enforcement efforts coordinated by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office have led to the near-total cessation of property crimes.

The arrest of notorious thieves in recent times, along with the systematic apprehension and incarceration of wanted individuals, has been a major factor in bringing these incidents to a near standstill.

Following preventive measures and the sensitivity of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in tracking criminal files, for the first time in 10 years, no residential, motorcycle, or automobile thefts occurred in Bursa on Wednesday, November 13. On Thursday, November 14, there was one residential theft.

In the first 11 months of 2024, there was a 68 percent decrease in residential theft incidents compared to the same period last year. While 2,364 residential thefts occurred in the first 11 months of last year, this figure dropped to 756 during the same period in 2024. The clearance rate for property crimes also rose from 60 percent to 91 percent. In the 11 months leading up to November 13, 2024, 1,400 thieves who were wanted or had finalized prison sentences were arrested and sent to prison across Bursa. This coordination between the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Bursa Police Department has been effective in bringing these incidents to a near end.

Bursa Provincial Police Department officials stated that efforts to ensure the city's 'peace' and security environment will continue without slowing down.
