First message from arrested Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün: I have one request from you

Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün published a message on his social media account following his arrest.

Akgün wrote, "I will return to you again. We will work together again, we will laugh together again. And when that day comes, those who orchestrated this injustice will be condemned in the conscience of the people. I am Hasan Akgün. I have not bowed my head, and I will not!"

Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün, who was detained during operations targeting CHP-run municipalities, has been arrested.

Akgün shared a post on his social media account following the arrest decision. Akgün wrote the following:

"My dear Büyükçekmece Family,

My precious fellow travelers, my dear citizens,

Today we are facing an injustice. If there is no rule of law, there is no justice. Justice is the bread of the people.

Today, in my 'half-century' journey of service, they are trying to cast a shadow over my mayoral duty, which I have carried out with my sweat, working day and night, and standing by the people rather than rent-seeking, through slanders and conspiracies.

But know that;

I did not come to this duty for a seat, but to serve with the will of the nation.

I always said the people first, I said the homeland first.

The detention decision is not a blow to me, but a blow intended to be struck against the will of the people.

But these people know very well how to protect their will.

Büyükçekmece will not be silenced!

Hasan Akgün will not be silenced!

I have shown what honest municipalism means in these lands.

The sun cannot be plastered over with mud.

The truth has a beautiful habit of coming out sooner or later.

Even if I am placed behind iron doors today, I am free in the conscience of the people.

Because my head is held high, my heart is at ease.

Because I have never taken what is not mine.

I worked only and only for Büyükçekmece.

I have one request from you:

Let us not lose our unity, our faith, our determination to struggle.

We will disperse the darkness together.

I will return to you again.

We will work together again, we will laugh together again.

And when that day comes, those who orchestrated this injustice will be condemned in the conscience of the people.
