The Hollywood world, shaken by the sudden death of Matthew Perry, had been focused on a statement from the star's co-stars on the show Friends, where he was known for his role as ''Chandler''. A joint message has arrived from the members of the cast.
''WE NEED TIME''
The joint statement made by the Friends stars to People included the following expressions:
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
THE FRIENDS CAST IS IN MOURNING
In addition to the message released by Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, and Matt LeBlanc, the show's creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, along with producer Kevin Bright, released the following statement:
“From the day we first heard him inhabit the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us. We will always cherish the joy, the light, the blinding intelligence he brought to every moment – not just to his work, but in life as well. He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart. We send all of our love to his family and friends.”
Evaluating Perry's groundbreaking performance, the team also noted: “It’s a cliché to say that an actor makes a role their own, but in Matthew’s case, there are no truer words. From the day we first heard him inhabit the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us.”
Matthew Perry played the lead character Chandler Bing on Friends for 10 years with a perfect comedic performance, which earned him an Emmy nomination in 2002. Meanwhile, the cause of Perry's death has not yet been finalized. The US press reported two days ago that the 54-year-old actor was found dead in the hot tub at his home.
