First NSC meeting after PKK dissolution concludes: Process to be followed with sensitivity

The NSC meeting, chaired by Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex, has concluded. The meeting, held at the Presidential Complex under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, lasted approximately 2.5 hours.

The following was noted in the written statement released after the meeting:

The Council was briefed on operations conducted with perseverance, determination, and success both domestically and abroad against all kinds of threats and dangers to our national unity, solidarity, and survival, primarily the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ, and DAESH terrorist organizations, as well as recent international developments.

Steps taken with the goal of a terror-free Turkey and recent developments were evaluated; determination was emphasized regarding the careful monitoring of every stage of the liquidation process, the permanent removal of terrorism from our country's agenda, and the achievement of a stronger and more prosperous Turkey by reinforcing our nation's unity and solidarity.

It was pointed out that as a result of clearing our shared geography of all terrorist organizations, a peaceful period will begin for regional countries, primarily our neighbors Iraq, Syria, and Iran; it was stated that further advancing cooperation in the field of security will make the most significant contribution to building the common future of our region.

Developments in Syria and the current situation were discussed; it was noted that strong support for the Syrian administration's efforts to ensure stability across the country will continue, and satisfaction was expressed regarding the trend toward lifting international sanctions that victimize the Syrian people. In this critical process, attention was drawn to the importance of eliminating initiatives that could harm Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, unitary structure, and political unity; a call was made to adopt a principled stance against activities aimed at destabilizing Syria.

It was stated that the systematic attacks and expansionist ambitions of Israel, which continues its genocide and occupation in Gaza, against Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen, in addition to Palestine, disrupt peace efforts in the Middle East; it was underlined that international actors in positions of responsibility must fulfill their duties regarding the elimination of risks and threats stemming from the policies of the Israeli administration.

Events occurring in North and East Africa were discussed; it was stated that Turkey will continue to increase its support for the efforts of brotherly countries in Africa to establish security and stability.

It was noted that a sensitive phase has been entered for ending the Russia-Ukraine War; it was stated that our country, which has taken the initiative to reach a lasting and fair peace, will continue to contribute to global peace and stability through peace diplomacy and mediation activities.

Satisfaction was expressed regarding the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the draft peace treaty; our expectation for the provision of necessary conditions for the establishment of a final peace that will yield results in the interest of all actors in our region was reaffirmed.
