First reaction from CHP Chair Özel to the arrest warrant: 'Shame on you'

Following the arrest warrant issued for Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently detained in Silivri, CHP Chair Özel released a video message in response.

CHP Chair Özgür Özel expressed his reaction to the arrest warrant with the words, 'Shame on you.'

In his post, Özel stated the following:

"On the 3rd month of the March 19 Coup, this has also happened!

They have arrested our Mayor Ekrem's lawyer, Mehmet Pehlivan, for defending his client.

They have dragged Turkey into medieval darkness and attacked the right to defense.

I am complaining to our nation about this mentality that chokes lawyers just so their perceptions do not collapse.

Shame on you!"
