CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut reacted to the 4-year and 3-month prison sentence given to journalist Furkan Karabay.Bulut stated in a post on his social media account,

"It is a legal disgrace that journalist Furkan Karabay was sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in prison after being held in detention for 201 days before being released."According to the court's decision,Furkan Karabay was charged withinsulting a public official and targeting a public official involved in counter-terrorism.

The court's rulingstates that Furkan Karabay, regarding the 'President'1 year and 9 months for the crime of "insulting the President"1 year and 3 months for the crime of"insulting a public official due to their duty"and for the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutorfor the crime of "targeting those involved in the fight against terrorism"1 year and 3 monthsand for the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutorfor the crime of "targeting those involved in the fight against terrorism"He was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison for the crime oftargeting public officials.In total, Karabay received a sentence of 4 years and 3 months.
