In an announcement made to the public by the Ministry of National Defense (MSB), it was stated that dismissal penalties were issued for three disciplinary supervisors and five lieutenants:
"Within the scope of the administrative and disciplinary investigations initiated following the images reflected to the public after the Military Academy Flag Handover and Graduation Ceremony;
The Ministry of National Defense High Disciplinary Board has issued a 'Separation from the Armed Forces Penalty' to 3 sequential disciplinary supervisors, and the Land Forces High Disciplinary Board has issued the same to 5 lieutenants, in accordance with the mandatory provisions of the Turkish Armed Forces Disciplinary Law and the Regulation on Turkish Armed Forces High Disciplinary Boards, as well as other aforementioned legislation.
In our Turkish Armed Forces, where the priority is the preservation and maintenance of established discipline; there should not be the slightest doubt that no action, incident, or situation contrary to discipline will be tolerated."
FIRST REACTION FROM LIEUTENANTS TO DISMISSAL DECISION
Journalist and 12punto columnist Müyesser Yıldız shared the first reaction of the lieutenants who were issued dismissal decisions in a post on her social media account.
The first reaction from the lieutenants to the decision was as follows:
"It was what we expected. Long live our homeland! We will continue to stand where we stood on the first day. We entered the Military Academy in the light of ATATÜRK, and we will continue to walk in his light from now on. We will use all our legal rights to the end and wear our honorable uniforms again."
