Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, who was detained as part of the operation, has released a statement.
The following statements were included in the message shared on Mutlu's social media account:
"My dear neighbors, until today, I have served only Bayrampaşa and you, my esteemed fellow citizens. On this path we embarked upon to be worthy of you, I have not thought of taking a single step back, and I will not."
"My head is held high, my conscience is clear. There is no action of mine that I cannot account for. The detention I am experiencing today is merely a result of us bringing service back to Bayrampaşa after 30 years. What is happening consists solely of political operations and baseless slanders."
"Rest assured that together with you, the valuable people of Bayrampaşa, we will overcome these slanders and indignities. I entrust myself, once again, to the conscience and support of the people of Bayrampaşa."
