Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu, wife of CHP's imprisoned presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, made a statement on her social media account after her brother, Ali Kaya, was detained as part of a drug investigation.
In her post, İmamoğlu reacted to the ongoing process.

Every kind of slander and defamation method is being resorted to in order to damage reputations, create public perception, and for the sake of political calculations. This does not align with conscience, law, or humanity.
The presumption of innocence and the right not to be stigmatized are indispensable and inviolable fundamental principles of a state of law. These rights cannot be arbitrarily eroded for political motives. No process in which families are targeted to exert pressure is legitimate. The law must be operated not with rumors or manipulation, but only with concrete evidence, fairly and transparently.
This call is not just for my family. It is for everyone who needs the law, justice, and the minimum guarantees of democracy.
Enough is enough! Put an end to the dirty scenarios carried out through families! Stop turning the law into a tool of politics! Let fair, clean, and lawful processes be operated immediately!"
WHAT HAPPENED?
It was reported that Ali Kaya was detained in the morning hours as part of the “Drug Investigation Targeting Celebrities” conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
On the other hand, in the second phase of the investigation into the İBB, Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu's older brother, Cevat Kaya, had also been arrested. A detention order was issued for Cevat Kaya on April 29, 2025, and an arrest warrant was issued on April 30, 2025.
