First statement from İmamoğlu after his bodyguard is detained! 'You are attacking my family...'
CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently imprisoned at Silivri Prison, reacted sharply to the investigations conducted against his family and his bodyguard, stating, "You are attacking my family, you are marketing slander as politics; the nation will hold you accountable at the ballot box."

CHP's imprisoned presidential candidate and İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been held at Silivri Prison since March 23, 2025, reacted to the arrest of his wife Dilek İmamoğlu's brother, Ali Kaya, in a drug investigation, and the detention of his bodyguard, Bektaş Kamburoğlu, as part of an investigation into alleged corruption at the İBB.
İmamoğlu's statement was published on the X account named Presidential Candidate Office.
"You are disregarding conscience. You are trampling on morality. You are silencing justice and turning the law into a political apparatus. You are trying to erase mercy and compassion from this country," said İmamoğlu, adding, "You have established a conscious order of slander. You have normalized this greatest sin. You are marketing character assassinations as politics. You are targeting people's honor with political operations and perception games."
İmamoğlu continued as follows:
"You are attacking my family, you are targeting my home.
You are trying to silence everyone with fear, without distinguishing between children, women, the elderly, or the youth.
You are targeting those who protect my family, and you are engaging in character assassination with the language of a gang, without recognizing any boundaries.
Our noble nation does not bow to threats, slander, or oppression.
It will not forgive the hand that reaches out to the family!
The nation will hold you accountable at the ballot box!"
