First statement from İmamoğlu following arrest warrant

CHP's imprisoned presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was issued an arrest warrant as part of an espionage investigation, stated, "Never lose hope. We will succeed with courage, perseverance, and determination."

CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been detained at Silivri Prison since March 23, testified yesterday at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan as part of an espionage investigation launched against him.

As part of the same investigation, Necati Özkan and Merdan Yanardağ, who manage İmamoğlu's election campaign, were also referred to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for their arrest.

In the late hours of the night, it was decided that İmamoğlu, Özkan, and Yanardağ would be arrested. İmamoğlu made a statement following the decision.

"Never lose hope" said İmamoğlu, including the following remarks in his statement:

" 'Where nothing is real and everything is possible'...

They have turned my beautiful country into exactly such a place.

Even the claim of having burned Rome is more real than these absurdities.

Our struggle against this mentality, which has sworn to ruin the future of our nation, has from now on grown even greater.

There is no salvation alone; either all together or none of us.

Never lose hope. We will succeed with courage, perseverance, and determination."
