First statement from İmamoğlu's mother after visit: 'I cannot bear him being inside'
The family of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu visited their son at Silivri Prison. Speaking after the visit, his mother Hava İmamoğlu said, "My son's duty is to serve the state. The people love him, and he loves the people. That is what I see. I want my son to be released as soon as possible. I cannot bear him being inside."

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained in a dawn operation on March 19, was arrested on corruption charges on March 23 and sent to prison.
İmamoğlu's family visited their son at Silivri Prison today (March 27). Following the visit, his mother Hava İmamoğlu made a brief statement to reporters.
Emphasizing that her son is innocent, mother İmamoğlu said the following:
"I saw my son. He has no guilt at all. He is transparent. The whole world and the nation know my son.
My son's duty is to serve the state. The people love him, and he loves the people. That is what I see.
I want my son to be released as soon as possible. I cannot bear him being inside.
His morale was good. Of course, because I am his mother, he never shows it to me. My son never wants to upset me."
