Former Mayor of Hatay Lütfü Savaş has been expelled from the CHP. In an announcement made by the press board, it was stated that Lütfü Savaş's social media post on November 3, 2024, was evaluated as "engaging in attitudes and behaviors incompatible with the duties, responsibilities, and membership held in the party" and "contributing to political activities and actions contrary to the party's fundamental principles," and it was announced that a unanimous decision had been made to punish him with permanent expulsion.

"I will do my best to fight for our Republican People's Party (CHP) to move forward in accordance with its founding philosophy. The taking of this decision does not deter us; it makes us more determined. We are not conducting politics for personal reasons. We will also pursue our struggle legally.
I submitted a defense. After that defense, the authorized bodies made their decision. They said, 'You have brought out things that should have been discussed internally.' We will seek our rights before the law. We will also fight for the Republican People's Party to act in accordance with its founding philosophy.
Everything has changed in the last 8 months. After the management changed, after Kemal Bey, everything changed. Kemal Bey used to listen to us. Now, you don't listen to anyone. You are listening to the daily politics of the ruling power. The CHP cannot go on like this, and even if it does, it cannot come to power. You cannot get anywhere with day-to-day politics. Every level of the party should be embraced. Politics cannot be done by looking at the mouths of a few people.
(Regarding the expressions that today's CHP is busy being 'DEM-ified'): Just because someone else uses these expressions, can't I use them? The poll results, everything is clear. If it does not adopt the 6 founding principles, this party cannot go anywhere.
