The Kandilli Observatory, meanwhile, announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 4.2.

According to information on the website of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), a magnitude 4 earthquake occurred in the Sea of Marmara at 23:36. The depth of the earthquake was determined to be 8 kilometers.

The Kandilli Observatory announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 4.2.

Prof. Dr. Naci Görür used the following expressions in his post:

"A 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred between Silivri and Büyükçekmece.

This earthquake is on the Kumburgaz Fault, which is likely to rupture. Small stress field changes have been continuing on this fault since April 23. Get well soon."

On the other hand, another earthquake scientist, Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan, stated in his post, "The 4.2 is an expected aftershock. There is no cause for concern."
