The contacts of the DEM Party Imralı Delegation continue as part of the second opening process, referred to as a Turkey without terrorism. The delegation, consisting of Pervin Buldan, Mithat Sancar, and Özgür Faik Erol, who visited CHP leader Özgür Özel yesterday, visited Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç today.

Following the meeting, which lasted approximately 1.5 hours, Mithat Sancar and Pervin Buldan made a statement on behalf of the delegation. After their remarks, Sancar and Buldan concluded the press briefing by stating that they would not be taking any questions.

Mithat Sancar stated the following:

"We held a comprehensive and important meeting. We addressed the justice and legal issues on the agenda. We also exchanged views on legal regulations regarding the process. We received information about their preparations and also presented our suggestions. Peace can only become permanent on the basis of justice and law. In this respect, the Minister himself also says that an important role falls to the Ministry of Justice. We discussed the issue of strengthening the legal framework for peace, including the 11th Judicial Package currently being discussed in Parliament.

The discussion also covered addressing the regulations related to the process in various dimensions. We saw that there is intensive work going on at the Ministry. We learned that they are making comprehensive preparations. Our goal is to secure peace through law and make it permanent on the basis of justice. Contacts on this matter will continue. Taking this process toward peace, justice, and democracy will be possible through work done together. Contacts will continue."

"WE CONVEYED OUR SUGGESTIONS TO THE MINISTER"

Pervin Buldan used the following expressions in her speech:

"We held a productive meeting with the Minister of Justice lasting approximately 1.5 hours. Many topics were discussed. We specifically had a discussion about how preparations are being made for the law to be enacted regarding the peace process. But beyond that, issues such as human rights violations in prisons, as well as elderly and sick prisoners and those whose sentences are being executed, were also brought to the agenda. There are many elderly and sick prisoners. Releases are not taking place due to problems experienced in observation boards. We conveyed our suggestions regarding this to the Minister."
