First statement from the lawyer of Mustafa Bozbey, who was taken into custody

Şerafettin Yavuz, the lawyer for Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, who was taken into custody this morning, has made a statement.

A new one has been added to the operations and investigations carried out against CHP-run municipalities.

An investigation has been launched into 55 people, including Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, on allegations of "establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes, being a member of an organization established for the purpose of committing crimes, bribery, laundering assets derived from crime, and causing zoning pollution." The suspects were taken into custody as part of the investigation.

It was learned that in the simultaneous operations conducted in 5 provinces, centered in Bursa, many business people were among those detained, in addition to Bozbey's wife, daughter, and two siblings.

In a statement made by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Mustafa Bozbey was characterized as the "leader of a criminal organization."

FIRST STATEMENT FROM BOZBEY'S LAWYER

Following Bozbey's detention, his lawyer Şerafettin Yavuz made a statement.

Speaking to journalist Yaman Kaya, Yavuz stated, “The investigation stems from allegations related to his term as Mayor of Nilüfer. The detention was carried out even though there is no suspicion of flight or tampering with evidence regarding events from 7-8 years ago. The investigation is political.”
