A statement was made by Akşener's chief of staff, Esma Bekar, regarding the meeting, which caused discomfort within the İYİ Party.
Bekar stated, “The invitation for the meeting came from the President. Neither a job offer nor a request was brought to the agenda.” İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu said he was not surprised by the meeting.
