First statements from authorities following the Malatya earthquake: 'There are no negative reports'

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made a statement on X following the 5.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Battalgazi district of Malatya.

Yerlikaya said the following:

"Following the 5.2 magnitude earthquake in Malatya's Battalgazi district, which was also felt in surrounding provinces, all teams from AFAD and our relevant institutions have begun field scanning operations. As of now, there are no negative reports.

We are closely monitoring the developments.

I extend my best wishes to our citizens affected by the earthquake.

May God protect our country and our nation from disasters."

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR OF MALATYA

Malatya Governor Ersin Yazıcı said the following in a post on X:

"Get well soon, Malatya! There have been no negative reports reaching our institutions regarding the 5.2 magnitude earthquake in our Battalgazi district. Best wishes to our fellow citizens."

 

STATEMENT FROM AFAD

The statement made from AFAD's X account included the following:

"Following the 5.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred at 16.04 in the Battalgazi district of our Malatya province, there are no negative reports as of now. Field scanning operations are ongoing, and our teams are on alert. We extend our best wishes to the affected citizens."

MINISTER KOCA: UMKE IS ON DUTY

Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca noted the following in his statement on X:

"A 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Malatya's Battalgazi at 16.04. Our teams reported that the earthquake was felt, but no negative calls have been received. Two UMKE teams are on duty to scan the region. Get well soon, Malatya."
