İsmet Öğüt, known to the public as "Fisherman İsmet," has been detained as part of a fund investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
In the investigation, it was noted that Öğüt's assets had previously been subject to precautionary measures, and the financial movements in his accounts were under review. Financial examinations reportedly revealed a total fund outflow of 3 billion 92 million 75 thousand 513 TL in Öğüt's name between July 1 and September 16, 2026.
It was noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the money traffic in question, its connection to fund transactions, and the ultimate beneficiaries.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is also reportedly investigating whether there is any partnership or economic interest relationship between the assets and financial movements under review and those of İsmet Öğüt's brother, former CHP Ardahan Deputy Ensar Öğüt.
