Fishing boat sinks in Şile: Search operations continue for 1 missing person

Mehmet Yalçın went missing after falling into the sea when the fishing boat he took out from Şile Port sank. Coast Guard and coastal safety teams are continuing search operations for the missing individual.

The incident occurred at approximately 05:30 in the morning. According to reports, Mehmet Yalçın, who set out alone from Şile Port in his boat, sank about one mile offshore for reasons yet to be determined. Upon notification, Coast Guard and coastal safety teams arrived at the scene. The teams have begun search operations for the person missing at sea.

Amateur fisherman Engin Özdemir, who heard about the incident, stated, "The boat is currently about 1 mile from the port, but we don't know what happened; the weather is quite foggy. Whether someone hit him, or he had a heart attack and fell into the sea, is unfortunately still unknown. Coast Guard teams are continuing the search; they are still looking, and we don't know what happened either. We will learn the truth of the matter soon if Mehmet comes out safe and sound. May God not let this happen to anyone. He was a helpful friend; I hope he comes out safe and sound. He is a veteran sailor; he will find a way somehow."

It was learned that Mehmet Yalçın, who went missing at sea, was a former professional wrestler and his nickname was 'Pehlivan' (Wrestler).

While search and rescue efforts for Mehmet Yalçın continue, his relatives waiting on the shore are also awaiting good news from the teams.
