FKF commemorates 'the Denizes' with a march to Dolmabahçe

Members of the Federation of Idea Clubs (FKF) marched from in front of the Taksim AKM to Dolmabahçe today to commemorate the Denizes.

At the end of the march, during which slogans such as "Imperialists and collaborators will go as they came," "Down with tyranny, long live freedom," and "An independent Turkey in the footsteps of the Denizes" were frequently chanted, a press statement was made in Dolmabahçe, and carnations were laid in memory of Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan, and Hüseyin İnan.

The following statements were included in the press release:

"Imperialists and collaborators will go as they came.

The Denizes were executed 54 years ago. Deniz Gezmiş, Hüseyin İnan, and Yusuf Aslan, who were murdered by the March 12 junta, were revolutionary leaders of great importance not only for the youth movement but for the entire Turkish socialist movement.

The Denizes were targeted because they wanted to put the country on an equal, free, and bright path. They were murdered because a generation that dared to step forward for Turkey to regain its independence and be freed from the order of exploitation frightened the imperialists and local money barons. They were afraid because the Denizes fought for an independent Turkey.

While reactionary governments dragged Turkey into a de facto American occupation and bowed before the 6th Fleet, the Denizes took to the squares saying 'Get out, America,' threw the 6th Fleet into the sea, and fought for Turkey to withdraw from NATO.

They were afraid because the Denizes fought for a free Palestine from the river to the sea. While those who exploit the religious beliefs of the people were in league with the US and Zionists, the Denizes fought for a free and independent Palestine.

They were afraid because the Denizes defended socialism. As the Turkish working class rose up against the order of exploitation, it found revolutionary youth by its side; the struggle of the Denizes played a part in socialism in Turkey becoming a mass movement and an alternative for power by becoming the property of the working people.

Our country is still under the de facto occupation of the US. There are US and NATO bases all over the country. Today, those who govern Turkey are making our country a partner in the crimes committed against the peoples of the region by working with imperialists and Zionists.

The Kürecik radar base, which the Denizes and Sinans said 'Should be seized,' is still in the service of US imperialism today, this time being used against the people of neighboring Iran.

The Epstein gang member who is set to be the US Ambassador cannot stop being arrogant, acting like a colonial governor. He says that legitimacy is granted to those who govern Turkey by the US, says they want to work with monarchies and dictatorships in the region, and calls into question the legitimate states and established borders in the region.

The imperialist war organization NATO will meet in Ankara this summer. They will discuss what crimes they will commit against the peoples of the world and what ominous roles they will assign to Turkey for these crimes. With the inspiration and courage we take from the Denizes, the word to be said to the US, NATO, and the imperialists is clear:

They will go as they came!

54 years after their execution by the pro-American government of the time, the Denizes continue to shed light on the struggle for independence, revolution, and socialism.

We will finish the work the Denizes started; we will establish a socialist Turkey."
