FKF reacts to school attacks: Yusuf Tekin called to resign

The Federation of Idea Clubs (FKF) included the following statements in their press release:

Following the attack yesterday at a high school in the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, where many people, including teachers and students, were injured, a similar attack occurred today at a middle school in Kahramanmaraş.

According to official statements, 9 people, including one teacher, lost their lives and 13 people were injured in the attack in Kahramanmaraş.

These events are not isolated. The AKP government, which increasingly distances education from scientific principles, turns schools into experimental grounds for sects and religious communities, and eliminates quality education from the public sphere, leaving it to the mercy of the market, is primarily responsible for what has happened.

Yusuf Tekin, who has targeted teachers, students, and parents since the day he took office, has not only failed to take any measures against schools increasingly turning into crime scenes but is also strengthening the ground for such attacks.

Gangs and drug dealers surrounding schools directly affect the youth. This order, which markets violence and aggression against children and youth as a lifestyle and prevents young people and society from meeting around common values by imposing individualism, has become the fundamental determinant of these events.

We must get rid of this order for quality, scientific education and a safe life. We call on all our fellow students and citizens to fight together.
