Flag error by Ayyüce Türkeş Taş! Commemorated Kirkuk Turkmens, used East Turkestan flag!
Dr. Ayyüce Türkeş Taş drew attention due to a flag mix-up in a post on the social media platform X. In a post intended to commemorate the Kirkuk Turkmen leaders executed by Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath regime, the East Turkestan flag was mistakenly used instead of the Kirkuk Turkmen flag.

Dr. Ayyüce Türkeş Taş made headlines after making a mistake in a post on her social media account. While commemorating the Kirkuk Turkmen leaders Necdet Koçak, Adil Şerif, Abdullah Abdurrahman, Rıza Demirci, and all the martyrs who were executed by Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath regime, Türkeş Taş mistakenly used the East Turkestan flag instead of the Kirkuk Turkmen flag.
Social media users who saw the post noticed this error and commented, "The flags got mixed up." It drew attention that Türkeş Taş made such a mistake, despite her father Alparslan Türkeş being a leader known for his nationalist identity.
While the East Turkestan flag consists of a white crescent and star on a blue background, the Kirkuk Turkmen flag consists of blue and white stripes. The use of the wrong flag caused criticism in some circles, particularly due to the sensitivities between these two communities.
