In a notice posted on private public buses by the Union of All Private Public Bus Cooperatives (TÖHOB) and the Ankara Chamber of Private Public Bus Operators (ÖHO), it was stated that the income support provided by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality for subscription, discounted, and free tariffs was terminated as of December 31, 2024.
The notice stated that no decision has yet been made by the ABB regarding whether this support will be provided again, and that no payments have been made to date. Furthermore, it was emphasized that the support provided by the Ministry of Family and Social Services for passengers traveling for free is insufficient.
The statement, which noted that private public buses have reached a point where they can no longer maintain their services due to economic conditions, announced that passengers benefiting from free, subscription, and discounted tariffs will not be carried as of February 1st. It was announced that from this date on, only citizens traveling with full-fare tickets will be able to use the buses, and that holders of free or discounted cards should prefer EGO buses.
STATEMENT FROM EGO

Stating that they are closely monitoring the decision of the private public bus operators, the statement included the following: "We kindly ask you not to pay attention to any announcements that have not been made by the official accounts of the ABB and the EGO General Directorate."
The statement, which reminded that the procedures and principles regarding who will benefit from public transportation services and how are regulated in the Regulation on Free or Discounted Travel Cards published in the Official Gazette on March 4, 2014, shared the following information: "If you experience any issues, necessary actions will be taken if you report the vehicle license plate, line number, date, and time information."
