A flash development has occurred in the investigation regarding university student Gülistan Doku, who went missing in Tunceli. A photo of Mustafa Türkay Sonel, son of the then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, in camouflage and armed, has emerged.

The photo has been added to the investigation file and is considered new evidence that could change the course of the case.

HE HAD SAID "I HAVE NO WEAPON" IN HIS STATEMENT TO THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

In his statement to the prosecutor's office, Mustafa Türkay Sonel had said, "I have never owned any weapon or pistol until now." He also stated that he was interested in rifles called "Airsoft" that shoot colored beads instead of real weapons, and that this interest was a sport. However, the newly emerged photo contradicts Sonel's statement.

The investigation, which has been ongoing since January 5, 2020, the date Gülistan Doku went missing, is progressing with new evidence. On April 14, 15 suspects were detained in simultaneous operations conducted in 7 provinces. Among the suspects were Doku's ex-boyfriend Zeinal Abakarov, the son of the then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, Mustafa Türkay Sonel, and Erdoğan Elaldı, who had the last contact with Doku on the day she went missing.

12 SUSPECTS, INCLUDING THE GOVERNOR'S SON, WERE ARRESTED

Within the scope of the investigation, 12 of the detained suspects were arrested. Among them, Mustafa Türkay Sonel was arrested for "intentional killing," while other suspects were arrested for crimes such as "concealing evidence of a crime" and "destroying official documents." The investigation also includes the suspicion of murder, and the names of many state officials and security personnel are mentioned.

NEW FOOTAGE AND RECORDS ENTERED THE FILE

With the deepening of the investigation, 70 security camera recordings and 700 hours of footage from the period when Gülistan Doku went missing were collected. In addition, new footage was obtained and added to the file. Accessing detailed records of Gülistan Doku before she went missing and on the day she disappeared is expanding the scope of the investigation.

RED NOTICE REQUEST FOR FUGITIVE SUSPECTS

A red notice has been requested for the 14th suspect, Umut Altaş, who is abroad. In the second operation on April 17, the then-Chief Physician of the State Hospital, Çağdaş Özdemir, was also detained. Özdemir was arrested on allegations of deleting Gülistan Doku's hospital records.
