Flight attendant with two months of experience breaks back on THY flight

A Turkish Airlines (THY) aircraft operating flight TK2320 experienced a drop of approximately 150 meters after encountering severe turbulence. During the incident, a flight attendant identified as G. first hit the ceiling and then fell to the floor. One of the L-bones in the flight attendant's lower back was fractured.

Ali Kıdık stated that a flight attendant on the plane, which experienced a drop of approximately 150 meters, suffered a broken back as a result of a violent impact and fall.

Announcing the incident on X by saying "BREAKING NEWS," Kıdık included the following statements:

"THY's flight TK2320, which was operating the İzmir route last night, entered severe turbulence. A flight attendant on the plane, which experienced a drop of approximately 150 meters, hit the ceiling of the aircraft and fell to the floor on her back. The flight attendant, identified as G., whose back was broken, was taken to the hospital. The flight attendant will be brought to Istanbul on a stretcher this evening."

According to AirportHaber, the pilot issued a warning to fasten seatbelts by providing a turbulence notification just as the meal service had concluded.

At that moment, as the plane entered turbulence and experienced a sudden loss of altitude, G., a cabin crew member with only 2 months of experience, was lifted to the ceiling of the plane, fell to the floor on her back, and one of the L-bones in her lower back was fractured.

The injured cabin crew member on the plane, which landed in İzmir, was immediately taken to the hospital and placed under treatment.
