Floods caused by heavy rainfall in Nigeria affect over 227,000 people
Floods occurring in 27 states as a result of ongoing rainfall in Nigeria have affected 227,494 people, with 32,837 homes damaged. 16,488 hectares of agricultural land were also damaged. Authorities are urging communities to be prepared for rapid flood response.

It has been reported that nearly 227,500 people have been affected by floods caused by ongoing heavy rainfall in the West African country of Nigeria.
Ezekiel Manzo, spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of Nigeria, stated in a written statement that floods have occurred in 27 states due to the ongoing rainfall in the country.
Manzo noted that 227,494 people have been affected by the floods and stated that 32,837 homes have been damaged.
Reporting that 16,488 hectares of agricultural land and crops were also damaged due to the floods, Manzo advised communities to be prepared for rapid flood response.
The Nigerian Ministry of Water Resources had previously issued warnings for heavy rainfall and flooding for certain regions of the country.
