Floods in Kırklareli: Five citizens lost their lives, one person missing

Heavy rainfall in Kırklareli caused stream overflows. AFAD reported that 5 people have lost their lives due to the floods that began yesterday, and announced that search and rescue operations are ongoing for 1 missing person.

Heavy rainfall in Kırklareli led to stream overflows. The downpour, which began in the early hours of the morning in the Demirköy district, caused flooding and stream overflows in the town of İğneada. AFAD announced that 5 people have lost their lives due to the floods that began yesterday. Search and rescue operations for 1 missing person are ongoing.  

Two people who were stranded in a forested area in the Demirköy district, where the flooding occurred, have been rescued.

Many bungalow houses at a tourism facility in İğneada were swept away due to the overflow.

6 PEOPLE RESCUED

AFAD, the Provincial Special Administration, Coast Guard, fire department, and UMKE teams, along with military units, were dispatched to the region.

The teams launched a search and rescue operation after losing contact with some vacationers staying at the facility following the overflow.

Two people who were stranded in the forest in the region were rescued by the teams and taken to the hospital.

In the area where search and rescue operations are continuing, the teams rescued 2 more people, one a young girl and the other an adult male. 

AFAD reported that search and rescue teams have rescued 6 people.
