Florist who fell into a coma after a single punch has died

Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı, a florist in Antalya who fell into a coma and was declared brain dead after being punched during an argument over 'sharing photos on social media,' has passed away. Yıldırıcı's body was taken from the hospital morgue and transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.

The incident occurred on Saturday, October 12, at a wholesale flower business located on Andızlı Street in the Altınova Düden neighborhood of Antalya's Kepez district. According to allegations, photos of a flower bouquet shared on social media by the wife of Kıvanç Ş. (34), who is reportedly a foreign national, were screenshotted by F.Y., the sister of Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı (29), and shared on the business's social media account. A dispute broke out between Kıvanç Ş. and Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı over the sharing of the photo.

HE LEFT HIM IN A COMA WITH A SINGLE PUNCH

Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı apologized to Kıvanç Ş. and deleted the photos from social media. However, Kıvanç Ş., angered by the sharing of the photos, went to the flower warehouse where Yıldırıcı was located in the evening. Kıvanç Ş., who entered the warehouse with Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı, suddenly punched Yıldırıcı. While Kıvanç Ş. continued to kick Yıldırıcı, who had collapsed to the ground, the entire incident was captured second-by-second on security cameras. In the footage, it was observed that while Yıldırıcı collapsed to the ground instantly from the punch, Kıvanç Ş., whose anger did not subside, continued to strike him, while the business owner, A.O., entered the room and tried to calm and remove Kıvanç Ş.

THE ASSAILANT WAS ARRESTED

Upon notification of the incident to the 112 Emergency Call Center, police and medical teams were dispatched. Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı, who was unconscious, was taken to Kepez State Hospital by 112 Emergency Health teams, while Kıvanç Ş. was detained by patrol teams arriving at the scene and taken to the police station. After his procedures at the police station, Kıvanç Ş. was brought before a court, arrested, and sent to prison.

HE HAD BEEN DECLARED BRAIN DEAD

Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı, who was taken to intensive care and was declared brain dead recently, lost his life this morning. Yıldırıcı's body, which was taken from the Kepez State Hospital morgue, was brought to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy procedures. It was learned that the body will be handed over to the family tomorrow.
