Fog and haze warning from the Meteorological Service

The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced that foggy and hazy weather is expected in some parts of the country over the weekend and on Monday.

The statement noted that with the onset of the winter season, haze and fog have been forming in the interior parts of the country, particularly during the night and morning hours. It explained that fog is a cloud formed by atmospheric water vapor condensing into small water droplets, which obstructs horizontal visibility at ground level. The statement further noted that this condition can also occur as a result of rare ice crystals forming on or near the ground.

According to the latest assessments by the Directorate, the country will come under the influence of a high-pressure system starting from the western regions as of tonight. Fog and haze are forecast for the night and morning hours on Saturday in the eastern Marmara region, Inner Aegean, Central Anatolia, the interior of the Black Sea region, the west of Eastern Anatolia, and the northern parts of Southeastern Anatolia; on Sunday in the east of Central Anatolia, the interior of the Eastern Black Sea region, Eastern Anatolia, and the north of Southeastern Anatolia; and on Monday in the interior of the Eastern Black Sea region, Eastern Anatolia, and the north of Southeastern Anatolia, as well as in the vicinity of Yozgat and Sivas.

Furthermore, it was emphasized that drivers and citizens should be careful and take precautions against any negative consequences that may arise from the fog. It was reminded that the "mgm.gov.tr" website, the Voice of Meteorology Radio, the institution's mobile application, and its social media accounts can be used to access meteorological forecasts and early warnings.
