Food prices are climbing! Will there be a price hike for bread?

As food prices increase with each passing day, citizens continue to feel concerned about the incoming price hikes. However, the price of bread, which is one of the most basic food products that everyone puts on their table every day, has also started to be discussed. So, will there be a price hike for bread? Halil İbrahim Balcı, President of the Turkish Bakers Federation, pointed to the differences in other inputs along with the increase in flour prices and said, "These increases make a rise in bread prices inevitable."

"FLOUR PRICE INCREASED BY 30 PERCENT! A RISE IN BREAD PRICES IS INEVITABLE"

Balcı used the following expressions in his speech:

"Regarding bread, which is the staple food of our people, the 30 percent increase in the price of flour, which is our main raw material for bread, over the last month—meaning it has gone from the 630 TL band to approximately the 800 band—and the differences in our other inputs are putting our baker tradesmen, who are the producers, in a serious bind. These increases make a rise in bread prices inevitable."
