Following the letter sent by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) to governorates regarding the closure of daycares opened by municipalities and the prohibition of opening new ones, a 'daycare' debate has erupted in politics.

While the daycare dispute between Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin continues, striking footage has emerged.

According to journalist Metin Cihan, it has been learned that the Ministry of National Education had announced the daycare decision to private preschools in advance.

It was observed that Fethullah Güner, General Manager of Private Education Institutions at the Ministry of National Education, said in a speech at a Private Preschools Association event: "The only activity that municipalities can legally perform right now is support courses for university or high school. According to the law, municipalities have neither the authority to build daycares nor the authority to build preschools for the public, excluding workplace daycare centers for their own employees."

Metin Cihan shared the footage in question with the note: "A Ministry of National Education official gives the good news of closing municipal daycares to private preschools."
