Footage of turbulence that injured six people emerges: Panic on THY flight

In-flight footage has emerged of the incident where a Turkish Airlines (THY) Boeing 777 passenger aircraft, operating the Istanbul-Taipei flight, encountered turbulence, resulting in injuries to 4 passengers and 2 cabin crew members.

The THY Boeing 777 passenger aircraft, with tail registration TC-JJE, operating flight TK24 from Istanbul to Taipei, encountered turbulence shortly before landing at Taipei airport.

In the incident, 4 passengers and 2 cabin crew members were slightly injured on the aircraft, which was carrying 214 passengers and a 17-person flight crew.

The scene inside the THY aircraft, which landed in Taipei without any issues, was chilling following the severe turbulence.

One of the female passengers on board recorded those moments with her mobile phone and shared them on her social media account.

THY ISSUED A STATEMENT

THY Press Consultant Yahya Üstün provided information regarding the latest situation in a statement on social media. The statement included the following:

"Our aircraft with tail code TC-JJE, performing our TK24 Istanbul (IST) – Taipei (TPE) flight, was exposed to adverse weather conditions (turbulence) approximately 2 hours away from Taipei airport. On our aircraft, which had 214 passengers and a 17-person flight crew, 4 of our passengers and 2 of our cabin personnel were slightly injured due to the turbulence.

Our aircraft landed at Taipei airport without any issues, and medical teams met the aircraft; according to the initial intervention, no serious findings were encountered. Additionally, 2 of our passengers were referred to the hospital upon their request.

Turkish Airlines, which always prioritizes flight and passenger safety, is deeply saddened by the incident. The health status of our passengers and crew is being closely monitored."
